Express Entry

What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an innovative online immigration application system designed by the Canadian government to manage and process applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. Launched in January 2015, Express Entry aims to streamline the immigration process and attract individuals who have the skills and experience needed to contribute to the Canadian economy. The system primarily manages applications for three federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). It also facilitates a faster and more efficient process, allowing candidates to obtain permanent residency within six months of receiving an invitation to apply.
How to participate in express entry?
To participate in the Express Entry system, applicants must first determine their eligibility based on factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency in English or French. Eligible candidates create an online Express Entry profile, including detailed qualifications information. This profile is then entered into the Express Entry pool, where candidates are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS assigns points based on various factors, including the candidate's skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other criteria that can help determine their potential success in Canada.
How does Express Entry work?
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system that helps rank candidates in the Express Entry pool. Points are awarded for factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability, including additional points for a valid job offer in Canada, a provincial nomination, or Canadian education and work experience. Candidates with the highest CRS scores are issued Invitations to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence during regular draws from the Express Entry pool. Receiving an ITA is a significant step, as it means the candidate can submit a complete application for permanent residence within 60 days.
